OUR HISTORY
Opened as The Boyd in the 80's, it was considered "The soul of Kensington and Notting Hill" - hosting stars like Elton John, David Bowie and Princess Diana.
Acquired by Franco Faganello in June 2008, the restaurant has been restored to its previous glamour and transformed into a fine dining restaurant, plus a private room for meetings and exclusive dining. The well-chosen menu and wine list make The Glass Room a comfortable and perfect dining experience.
Franco Faganello is not new to the London restaurant scene. He came to London in 1996, after running a successful businesses in Italy. In London Franco gained experience and success in various different environments, including the fine dining Formula Veneta and San Frediano in Chelsea with one of the best restaurateurs in London at the time, Mr Gianni Pauro. The Guild and the Mithras in the City and the more fast paced Il Pagliaccio topped up his expertise as restaurant manager, before setting up Arabica Pura, a company specialising in coffee beans research for the Italian and British market.
"The Glass Room aims to bring all those experiences together. We want to offer fantastic food, great wine and a service that is warm, funky, and enthusiastic. It sounds basic, but not everyone offers that in London." says Franco.
Dino Amista' is the Chef and long time friend of Franco's, (you can call them "Brothers" and probably they are!). He started his career as a diamond setter but the love, the passion, the pleasure of cooking and "why not", the wine shaped his future in a different direction.
Chef in Formula Veneta with Franco, he developed his expertise and passion as a chef in Carpaccio in Highgate and at the Rosmarino Restaurant in Abbey Road before starting in this venture with Franco.
All those different experiences were the base for the creation of the Glass Room Restaurant's style and menu: Original, honest, a little eclectic but natural and fresh.
New kid on the block, Alessandro Moretti brings his experience as a restaurant owner in Bologna, Italy. "Coming to London and joining a venture like the Glass Room is an exciting experience. Being taken on board by Franco and Dino makes it more challenging as they are guys with high standards" says Alessando. Alessando also had a quick spell in restaurants in Swindon, before coming to London.
